We were able to get a refund from the cruise wedding so all together we spent about $1,095 ($3,395 including rings) on our beach elopement!

How did you meet?

We had gone to the same gym for quite some time and I always thought he was cute. One day I found the courage to talk to him in the parking lot, met up at the beach, and we’ve been together ever since!

What is your proposal story?

My favorite time of year is Christmas. He had a date night planned but when I got home from work (I’m a nurse) I asked if we could stay in instead (whoops)! He played it off perfectly and made the best of our night in. He put on our song, Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs, and we started dancing in front of the Christmas tree. That’s when he dropped down to one knee, confessed his love, and popped the question! I was so surprised and felt terrible for ruining the night he had planned but it turned out absolutely amazing.

Tell us about your wedding vision.

So prior to our original cruise wedding being canceled my budget for a dress was $500. I purchased my dress, veil, and hairpiece all for $600 at David’s Bridal. I had also made DIY fake flower bouquets (as I couldn’t bring real flowers on the cruise and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on the flowers they provided).

Once the cruise was canceled, we sorted through options of picking a local venue but it was way out of range of what we wanted to spend (around $5,000 top for a cruise wedding) and we had already been engaged for a year and a half so we just wanted to be married and not wait any longer- so we eloped!

I was able to get Kenzie Rae Photography to capture the memories for $399. We bought the groom’s attire at Kohl’s for around $35. I used the fake flower bouquets I had already made. We are also lucky enough to live by the beach so we paid $10 to access Light House Point Park and eloped on the beach on July 5, 2020, which was our originally planned date!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs has always been our song and the events on our engagement night made it even more fitting since I decided to stay in that night, rather than going on our date – just like in the song!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

COVID really messed up our wedding plans. Even though our wedding was not how we planned, on the beach at CocoCay, Bahamas traveling on a cruise with 85 friends & family, we had to make the best of the situation and got the same end result – our happily ever after!
