What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We had a memorial table set up with candles Karli made. Karli wore a locket with a picture of her grandmother on her wedding day. We got Dylan’s sister ordained online and she did the ceremony. Karli and Dylan’s sister planned every detail of the wedding in a matter of a week.
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
Yes! Karli owns her own candle company (Instagram @inlovethereslight) and she made all of the candles from the votives to the memorial candles, as well as citronella ones to repel the bugs because the whole night was outside. Karli also DIYed some pictures on Canva and printed them out to frame (cocktail menu, welcome sign, memorial saying). We DIYed some of our party favors (we did soaps because of COVID-19).
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We had our wedding in a family member’s backyard. It was so beautiful and quaint and everything we ever envisioned for ourselves. We also kept the guest list to just family and had a friend take out pictures.
What was most important to you two? Was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?
Florals
What was your favorite detail?
We loved the fact that we used a lot of start-up businesses as vendors. We used a local restaurant for catering. We utilized Karli’s candle and soap company for the favors and decor. We had a friend Karli graduated from college with who just started a floral company take liberties with the florals. And one of Karli’s bridesmaids who has a photography company took the pictures. We were surrounded by love the whole day, even from our vendors. Everyone came together and did everything they could to make the day perfect for us.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
We did a first look. We would highly recommend it. It takes the nerves away and it’s a beautiful moment you and your spouse get to experience before all of your guests arrive.
Dancing all night was unforgettable, too.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Stay as organized as possible and don’t be afraid to ask for help!
Also, I did go to school for event planning, so the planning part came a little bit easier for me. With that being said, I am willing to help any bride out there! You can reach out to me on Instagram @kkosulli for any help!
